Sony BDP-S380 & BBC iPlayer

I recently purchased this item and did a network update to ensure I had the lastest firmware, however BBC iPlayer does not appear on the list of Network video items. I noticed that some people had been having the same issue on the BDP-S370 so I tried one of there suggestions (reseting network information), however it still did not work. Any suggestions?

iPlayer on the 2011 devices (Blu-ray and BRAVIA) is currently going through final testing and should go live very shortly.

Thanks

iPlayer is now live on 2011 Blu-ray and BRAVIA products. You may have to update the firmware on the device to enable it however.

Please feedback on any bugs/glitches you may come across.

Thanks

i bought a S380 today, updated the firmware and have a confirmed internet connection, however

I have no BBC iPlayer or any other internet video services.   It is showing up error reference 11  but I have been unable to find any reference to error nos. anywhere.

I am pretty unhappy, the only reason I bought it was to enable iPlayer on my bravia.

any clues..?

Maybe give the call centre a buzz as I'm not sure what that error code pertains to. The system is plug and play, so if you aren't getting any video services, then it may be a problem with the devices connection to the web?

Thanks

Hi folks - quick question from a new s380 owner. I can get iPlayer to work fine and I can view almost all content except for HD content. Whenever I try to view an HD movie it starts viewing and then exits after 3-5 seconds with no error (just back to the detail page on iPlayer). I don't think this is a bandwidth issue as I have FTTC (~30 Mbps) broadband and I can view iPlayer HD with no problems on the PC. Also the s380 is on a wired (ethernet) connection. Any clues? Thanks, Dan

When streaming a regular definition show off of BBC iPlayer yesterday it kept halting play-back at seemingly random intervals, forcing me to go star the stream over again and fast forward back to where I was. Seems like there are some bugs in the BBC iPlayer for S-380. Hope some fixes will be forthcoming. Any response from Sony folks on this?

I've got a similar problem. Bought the 380 yesterday (21st May). BBC iPlayer is there and - after some odd messages which implied that zero programs were available at all - it suddenly sprang into life and delivered a non-HD program without a hitch. However, the BBC HD delivery is definitely bugged. You watch a program for a couple of minutes, then it skips back to the program's start screen. For example, it seems to glitch out consistently with" This Green and Pleasant Land", broadcast on 19th May.

Are you on Virgin Media?

Nope. Internet access is over copper. ISP is Zen. Generally get around 6mbs though, oddly, the iPlayer is reporting more like 3mbs. Something to do with losses over the Wi-Fi connection to the router?!?

I am also experiencing restarts on iPlayer, but also on Demand 5. If I can fast forward for a short while before a video cuts out, then it will play to the end, but it is very annoying having to do this. I am on O2 broadband and the S380 internet apps report a 6.6 meg connection.
