I recently purchased this item and did a network update to ensure I had the lastest firmware, however BBC iPlayer does not appear on the list of Network video items. I noticed that some people had been having the same issue on the BDP-S370 so I tried one of there suggestions (reseting network information), however it still did not work. Any suggestions?

My BDP-S380 was a gift. As it seems Sony have no interest is acknowledging the problems affecting iPlayer HD, Demand 5 and LoveFilm (the reason I requested this useless piece of junk in the first place). I'm curious how do I get it exchanged for a system that works?
So, no response from Sony for 2 weeks, says a lot about the modern 'we've sold you it and we dont care now' attitude of big corporations these days.
Rated Sony above the rest as I have had a cameras stc from them in the past but it only takes one nbad experience to change a consumers mind.
I will think carefully before buying any more, Shoddy, I mean Sony units.

Hi
Engineering have been looking into the issue for the last couple of weeks on a variety of different web connections but have not been able to replicate the problem. If you are still having issues then I would recommend contacting the call centre or getting your local service centre to take a look at it, as it may be faulty, in which case they should be able to sort it out relatively easily.
JFYI Five and Lovefilm don't stream content in HD as far as I'm aware. Its only BBC offering catch-up HD.
Thanks
How many users does it take to report this fault before Sony realize they have a problem!
I have had my S380 replaced and tested the replacement in 3 different locations on 3 different ISP and in each case it behaves in exactly the same way.
I would also like to add that I have the exact same issue, BBC iPlayer is fine in SD but shuts down after a few seconds of playing any HD programming.
I use the exact same wired connection (down to the very cable) for a desktop computer that has no problems with iPlayer HD. My internet connection is a stable 19.5mbps, far in excess of that required by iPlayer HD.
I have just had a long discussion with my ISP on this topic. Their suggestion is that there may be issues with the servers used to host the content as the BBC programs are hosted by a network of servers at different locations in the UK. This might explain why when I test my box in different towns in Cheshire I cannot get the BBC HD content to play normally, and why the Sony staffs located in and around Hampshire/Berkshire/Surrey don’t have a problem. Perhaps those here that have issues could let me know their location, telephone exchange and ISP and I will pass this to Sony UK. I must say I am disappointed that Sony themselves can't take the initiative in this matter, but their attitude remains that there is no fault with the device itself. In an attempt to progress this situation please forward your information to this board, or email it to me david.elliott@zen.co.uk. Thanks.
I have the same problem...cuts out BBC HD after 20 seconds
BT 17MB connection with Netgear router via Ethernet...I have five other various networked devices and all play BBC HD without issues. Flumoxed to say the least.
Have the latest firmware and its had this issue since I've first owned it. SD is fine.
I would be looking at the Blu-Ray player...if its an ISP / router issue surely other devices would have similar issues? Is it perhaps a Flash cache problem or something? iPlayer uses Flash.
Wow, this many faulty units? Sony must really be losing their quality control standards if that's true.
As previously stated, the problem is repeatable, time after time, it is not random, it happens at the same point. It is not related to whether the stream is HD, it IS related to whether the stream is provided as a BBC HD, or a Channel 5 (SD) stream. BBC SD has no problems.
As this is the first Sony product I have ever bought, this lack of progress is definitely making me see every other manufacturer as a more likely candidate for my next electrical purchase.
I live in Birmingham, my ISP is O2 LLU and with a steady bandwidth of 6.6 meg.
Well I am located in Berkshire so I don't see how it can be anything to do with the area of sony staff in this area are not apparently having a problem.
I also have the same problem with BBC HD and Demand 5 - cuts out after 17 seconds, but if you fast forward within that time past the 17seconds point then it works fine. If you fast forward and then fast reverse back to 0 position, the problem returns. With BBC SD there is no issue.
I bought the player on 24th March and initially it worked OK with BBC HD , then I think there was a Firmware update to the current version and the problem appeared.
I am on Pipex (Talk Talk) LLU 10MB steady connection and live in South Bucks and using a NetgrearPowerline Adaptor from a Netgear router. The iPlayer BBCHD works fine on my PC with no pauses.
The problem looks clearly like an issue with the BDP-S380, not anything else. I have a Humax HDR-T2 PVR, which also has just had BBC iPlayer enable on its internet portal, and BBC HD plays perfectly on this. This shares the same internet connection up to the Powerline adaptor, so the issue must be the Sony BDP-S380
