Buy the XZ Premium or wait to see what gets released in September?

I know Sony is gonna release phones at IFA so I don't want to buy the XZ Premium and then suddenly there is a better phone coming out.

And advice?

Wait for IFA 2017... Next SONY flagship will be much better than XZP ...(there is no room for mistakes )

1) 2k OLED OR crystal LED DISPLAY

2) 3200 mah battery

3) dual camera + OIS (F1.8)

4) better and louder stereo speaker

5)bezel-less design

6) Metal body and metal frame

7)IRIS scanner

8)3D or 4D touch

9)In-display fingerprint authentication

10)Daydream VR ready

The best of SONY is now much better !!

that just sounds like your wishlist, I haven't heard of any rumours mentioning any of those. also what the would a 4D touch do, let you travel back in time?

If the phrase “4D Touch” sounds strangely familiar, it's probably because it reminds you of 3D Touch, Apple's pressure-sensitive screen technology that debuted with the iPhone 6s. What's 4D Touch, though? Right now, we have no idea, but we do know that it's some sort of technology or feature that's under development at Huawei. The manufacturer has applied to register a trademark called “Huawei 4D Touch”; sadly, not much is known beyond the name itself.

A new trademark doesn’t necessarily mean a new technology, so it is still difficult to say if Huawei's 4D Touch will be some sort of pressure-sensitive solution or something entirely different. The only trademark description we found states that Huawei 4D Touch can be applied to any software and virtually all kinds of devices such as smartphones, tablets, smart watches, computers, cameras, fitness bracelets, etc. The information, however, is too general to be useful.

Also Next sony flagship maybe will use Acoustic surface technology that SONY introduced in BRAVIA A1 OLED !

This is just your personal wishlist, and I hope some of it doesn't happen. If Sony switched to OLED, I will no longer buy their phones. I despise that horrible technology with its degradation (http://allaboutwindowsphone.com/features/item/20372_Do_AMOLED_phone_screens_degrad.php), burn in (https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS8/comments/6ic3rp/only_took_a_month_for_my_screen_to_burn_in_cool/), and white point shift.

XZ Premium will not get a successor for a while. I had the Z5p before, and was satisfied with the timing of its successor, the XZp 1.5 years later.

Realy??If OLED is not good why Sony announced an OLED TV ???

OLED is much better than IPS LCD in worst Scenario ...

Like I said, I despise OLED, but I'm not surprised Sony had to offer it. Samsung's marketing department has spent billions putting the name in people's head; a testament to this is the fact that most people call any OLED screen "AMOLED'. Also, the fact that a lot of poorly educated reviewers and consumers alike seem to think that any OLED has "punchier colours" -even when comparing something like the iPhone 7+ with its full DCI P3 gamut, or the XZp with its largerthan DCI P3 gamut to low quality OLEDs. I think a big part is Samsung paying certain sites and giving out freebies to reviewers; an infamous supposedly professional Samsung fan site is DisplayMate.

If you think the benefits of OLED, such as better blacks (although, only visible in the dark), and faster refresh rates are worth the compromises, such as degradation, burn in, white point shift, splotchy colours, etc., that's up to you. Personally, I will not buy any device with OLED after my S8+ which already has burn in after less than a month of use.

Wait till September, Sony may solve the problems which are facing in XZ Premium and also comes with more advanced features:

sony-xperia-z5-aa-5-840x472

  • Snapdragon 836
  • Wireless Charging
  • Dual Camera
  • 4000mAh Battery
  • Android O
  • Bezel-Less screen
  • Face Recognizer and Iris Scanner
  • Optical Image Stabilization
  • Light Weight & Slim
  • 8GB RAM
  • 128GB Storage
  • 3D Touch
  • Always On Display
  • Sony Virtual Assistant

I hope the next phone would be a Flagship Killer for Sony Mobiles.

@Thelastofus

I doubt we'll get all that this year. Maybe next year we'll get a phone with smaller bezels and two flagships a year is dumb in my opinion.

I totally agree with LogicAnalyzer.

Who think that OLED display are better than LCD, can tell why the Samsung TV's uses the same QuantumDot of Sony, aka LCD display? Samsung in a recent interview explained well the advantages in image quality of LCD over OLED.

Personally I saw the same "Sony glass maker" video on a Bravia OLED near a Bravia XE model, with the same image settings, and on the OLED  colors are false, unreal, oversatured and red, especially, deviates in orange.

DisplayMate reviews S8 as the best display because it has a great color accuracy: this is true only in terms of numbers of DeltaE but in real life colors aren't good in all three modes. The only my concern about the XZP display is the cold white point and colors also in Professional Mode, but the quality of the color of the LCD display are far better than OLED one. This is objective, not a personal taste.

I quite totally agree with the @azzido answer.

The camera of XZP is not good cause distortions od vertical and horizontal lines and shapes, sometimes also curved ones. However white balance and quality are enormous, if you don't consider too much distortions.

The XZP display is a great tech, you consider also the three presets of colors but mind you the always cold colors.

All other details about specs and expetations are realistic, but only rumors as the new  "full pixel continuous and shoot" tech that probably will be introduced.

Personally I wait IFA, there are only two mounths, after IFA all new Sony's devices will be reviewed in detail before December and you will consider the best for your use.

If you are as me, I am focused on XZP hoping in a little fix for the distortions, but I wait the end of year and IFA to see what will be presented and which software impementations will be added.
