Buy the XZ Premium or wait to see what gets released in September?

I know Sony is gonna release phones at IFA so I don't want to buy the XZ Premium and then suddenly there is a better phone coming out.

And advice?

If you do not care much about the camera and distortion issue then go buy XZ Premium - other than that is is great device. Otherwise wait, however chances for improvements in camera department are really low, close to 0.

For sure you cannot expect OIS, better light than 2.0, superior lenses or better alghoritms. Auro mode will still use too high iso, especially in low light.

Again, except the camera the device is really good, especially the screen that you will not get in September - no plans for new 4k device soon, rather 1080p 5,2" device. Ah, forgot to mention new video modes, further improvements for video recording but definitely not picture quality. Sony focuses on the videos, does not care completely about picture quality (we had Z5 nightmare with extremely blurry images on the edges, now abnormal distortion, wondering what is next).

If I were you I would buy Premium now.

You will not get better screen and camera. Processor probably will be the same. The only low chances goes for slightly updated design.

by that logic you should also hold off with buying the phone that's going to come out in September because of a next model that will come out couple months later. there will always be a better phone on the horizon.

@azzido Is the camera on the Premium bad?

Not always, depending on the object you want to capture. Unfortunately many times the pictures are really deformed, the issue is more visible when there are horizontal and vertical lines. In low light no improvement in comparison to previous models. Still F 2.0 and no OIS.

@azzido

I was looking forward to this phone now I don't know. But even without OIS the videos I've seen online look pretty stable.

After 8 months i give up my half plastic XZ this week. Instead i allmost get for half of the price of the XZp a LG g6 dual sim 4gb ram-64gb thats full premium build this time and waterproof to.I dont buy a sony for a long time now or maybe no more,It just big advertisement for years, and leave me with mixed feelings afterwards with camera software and a waist of money to upgrade in short times.in a few months you can buy the next version XZp where they fix the distortion for the joke.

I would take the XZP over the XZ any time if you want to buy a Sony from their development history they usually are more evolving then revolutionary changing stuff if you look at the specs since the original Xperia Z there are usually just small jumps up (the XZP had been the biggest in quite a while)

In the End - if you are still satisfied with your current device I would rather stay with it - theres always a better phone on the horizon so it's better to change when you need (also usually last years top phone is available at a really steep discount when the predecessor is released)

Wait for IFA 2017... Next SONY flagship will be much better than XZP ...(there is no room for mistakes )

1) 2k OLED OR crystal LED DISPLAY

2) 3200 mah battery

3) dual camera + OIS (F1.8)

4) better and louder stereo speaker

5)bezel-less design

6) Metal body and metal frame

7)IRIS scanner

8)3D or 4D touch

9)In-display fingerprint authentication

10)Daydream VR ready

The best of SONY is now much better !!
