@Nicholastopping,

I'm sorry to hear that. You will have to contact your local support team for further assistance.

I'll just continue to use my phone with lollipop. It works fine with that software. I'm not confident using my local support team (UK) as they are not very helpful or reliable. I'm curious to know why marshmallow bricks my phone but lollipop works fine? Anyone got any ideas?

I have also same problem after the update of Android 6.0

I think this is a common problem, Sony has to uptade a new sofware ASAP.

I also had the same problem especially when using Youtube app. I repalced the phone and the new unit doesn;t have this problem anymore so it's probably a hardware issue.

I used to have this issue on LP, triggered after disabling some of the bloatware. Since then, I am more conservative with this so haven't seen it on MM. I suggest factory reset/repair from pc, then disable only one bloat at a time and wait a while before disabling the next one.

Got my phone back yesterday, the paperwork gave no more detail than "fault rectified".  It rebooted itself this evening.

im going to see if I can make it do it while I'm watching it, but I guess it has to go back to support.

Great.  It's definitely doing the same thing.

I've been invited to send it back again (for 'VIP' service, details of which will be sent to me in three days!!!), but not even sure what the point is.

Has anyone had this issue corrected by sending their gadget back?

Wondering if it's worth waiting for another firmware update to see if it gets corrected.  Meantime, I'm using my Nexus 5, which still works great!

I think you mentioned repiring your device from PC Companion app.

If you haven't already done so, try this:

- repair phone from pc again, refrain from restoring any backup data (maybe except, selectively, photos and similar media types, if you're not keeping them on ext sd-card).
- after initial boot, configure your stock apps or whatever you're normally using. don't remove any bloat
- install a few apps each day, configure them manually, ie no restore!
- supposing you're back to your normal configuration in a fe wdays and no sudden restart, you can go ahead and start removing bloat, again,
one at a time, waiting at least a day in between the removals.

hopefully that solves your rebot problems (it did stopped mines). If you experience any unwanted reboot before even the bloat removal I'd say you're good for replacing your z5. good luck!
