It's nonsense all the information they need warranty wise is on their computer systems. If you go onto the Sony mobile website and click support then register your phone with the imei it tells you when the warrant expires. This should be enough.
I signed up and added my device with the IMEI # but I don't see where I can access the warranty information.
EDIT: nvm, I see it now. So you think this information is good enough for me to get repair? Why are they requesting proof of purchase?
Hello, Can I ask if they did anything to repair? I have a problem with my screen. Genuingly not as bad as yours was. but sony are saying if it is deemed accidental then they wont fix it.
I was having problems before the screen cracked and it was not dropped. It was in my pocket and I could hear a cracking sound.
Please reply
My Xperia ltra broke itself 2 times in under a month, I got the phone, had it for 3 months then it broke itself, I was forced to pay 275 for the repairs and then after i have my phone back for less than amonth BAM! Same thing happens. and guess what? THEY WANT ME TO **bleep** PAY TO FIX THIS BULL**bleep** AGAIN!
I've joined the "cracking crew" after 2 months.
Sent it off today. Fingers crossed.
Normally, screen damage is not covered by warranty and even Apple will charge you should your iPhone 6 or 6+ screen cracked, whether by itself or accidentally. But at least they tell you how much you need to fork out beforehand.
Me too......
Sent the phone on Friday to Sony, got an email this morning saying its been repaired and on its way back!
Screen cracked over a month ago and I thought it was something I had done. It wasnt until I started looking up where I could buy the glass and fix it myself (rather than the £230 Sony quoted me) that I realised so many other people have the same issue. What started as a hairline crack in both the front and the back at the same time, it now looks like a mosiac and I know 02 and Sony will both say I had dropped it at some point. With all of this talking about it and forum discussions is their any really solid evidence I could take to the service provider or Sony in regards to getting this item replaced. I did like the phone and had noticed severe overheating not experienced with my previous phones (Iphone).
Whoohoo, another cracked screen over here, and I bought mine less then a month ago.
Is this form alone not enough for them to realize something is siriusly wrong with the design.
It's just not safe, I've been getting rid of the glass splinters all day long.
I'll call the support line tomorrow, fingers crossed
