BDP-S350, iplayer missing after network update

I've just switched on my BDP-S350 and it informed me there was a network update, which I did. Now I no longer have iplayer, sky news, qriocity plus a few others have gone missing and seem to have been replaced with some misc other choices :slight_frown:

Anyone else had this or know if the options will be returned?

Paul

Same for me - BDP - S570 - and BBC iplayer suddenly disappeared. I called my local Richer Sounds store, and they suggested this might be a problem connected to  Sony's javascript?. Hopefully Sony will get on to this and resolve the issue.

The BBC iPlayer icon disappeared from the service list of my BDP-S570 on 28th June. Firmware is currently version M04.R.752 but I don't know when this was last updated since I have auto update enabled. I am therefore unable to confirm whether the new firmware is responsible for service denial. I've tried a reset to factory settings without success and Richer Sounds have suggested that I disconnect it from the mains for 48 hours before restarting (have not tried this yet, but I would be surprised if that made any difference).

Interesting that BBC iPlayer continues to work on my Wi-Fi dongle equipped Sony TV (Model KDL32EX503) as well as all the house PCs and laptops (all using 802.11N Wi-Fi). I have therefore decided to inhibit automatic firmware updates on the TV/BDP and will do manual updates in future, depending on upgrade outcomes reported by customers on forums such as this one.

All very strange  after another network update (not firmware update) eveything returned, iplayer, sky news, qriocity, love film etc......and then 2 days later gone again, replaced with some other weird and wonderfull options, food, arts etc.

It's like there are more than one set of 'applications' available and thet keep chopping and changing every now and then. At the moment the original set including iplayer are loaded back but for how long???????

I too have registered just to join this discussion as much to my horror I turned my Sony BDP-S570 on this evening with the intention of watching iplayer only to find it disappear in front of my eyes.

Does anyone know if it will return or how to get it restored?

no I haven't got it either after updating. Perhaps they have taken it away--would be the usual sort of thing--something you enjoy--:( hope I can be proven otherwise

I am also beginning to wonder if it's just a case that the service has been terminated on Sony Bluray platforms.  Do Sony representatives read this forums?  Could we get some official clarity on this one way or another?

I would suggest everyone calls the UK support number on 0844 8466 555 and register the problem.  The more complaints they get, I would hope the quicker they might respond.

I checked the box my player came in and it definately featured the BBC iPlayer logo, it was one of the reasons for buying it, so it would be annoying if it was a withdrawn feature rather than a firmware glitch!!!
