I posted in a thread and went back today to see my thread was edited by Alexdon!!! I posted a lot of feedback that i believed would be useful but to be edited and not be told about the edit, that wasn't very nice considering i was providing feedback on my first impressions of the phone. Very messy if this is something that is condoned by Sony
So. let's see if the dude violates me again in my own thread
I'm an android user. I've come from a line of HTC devices and prior to them i had the n900 maemo. Had the desire HD, Sensation, One M7 and my outgoing handset the One M9 was tempted to get the U11 seing as i've been with the HTC family for at least 6 years but most of my products at home are sony, so why not
Preorder - i preordered my handset as i was due an upgrade. received it on the 2nd June
Location - located in the UK on Voda (should've switched to EE but oh well)
Previous deivice - HTC One M9
Likes - love the design of the handset, felt more of a premium device compared to the U11 that i was also considering. the feel, the screen resolution obviously and the speed is always a plus. I like the fact it is in 4k and looking forward to using the slowmo a great deal. I said above most of my products at home are Sony. i have a bravia, ps3 and ps4 pro plus sound bar, all sony. so was very keen to see how the integration would work. the fingerprint scanner feature wasn't a decising factor but it was a nice to have
Dislikes - I don't like the headphones that comes with it. These umbrella type headphones that you have to shove into your ear doesn't work for me. As soon as they go in, they come straight back out again. I much preferred the models like MDR-E820 or even the ones that were supplied with the old PSP (that i still use!) . Which brings me to my second issue. The sound. It's way poorer than the last 2 HTC handsets i've had (M7 and M9). I use poweramp to play music. On the XZP i have to pump it to maximum just to hear it, whereas on the HTC devices, i'm scared to turn it up even 3/4 of the way. I hope this can be addressed in a firmware update but this is what i've found so far. The quality is not an issue, it's crystal clear, just needs more volume. Third thing is lack of live wallpapers. Only one out the box. I like it that's why i'm still using it, would love to see more than just one, or even one available on the net somewhere...live remember, not just standard. Fourth thing for me is the SD card slot. on the XZP you have upto 256 whereas the U11 is upto 2TB!!! While some of you may argue that's more than enough, remember what you say when you're on holiday and you take shots on this 4K device. The space will be eaten up pretty sharpish and that also goes for stills. It's a real shame the device couldn't stretch even to maybe 512gb. Last thing is newsfeed. I was so used to the blinkfeed feature on the HTC i was pretty naive to believe something similar would be on the XZP. There isn't and some people mentioned the news app. Yes i have it and it's a stock item. But for a home screen, i would've preferred something like a blinkfeed type screen for news, sport and entertainment.
A note about the battery. If you play games on your phone, this phone will not last you a full day. It's not a complaint per se but an observation. I'm not fussed that it doesn't last all day, but a warning to those that want to quote stats. Battery killers such as Clash of Clans, Marvels Contest of Champions are two i play and within one or 2 hours, it's already down from ful to like 75%.
This is my thread not some elses who decided to edit my post. So want to see if this happens here
Yep, I can confirm that this phone comes with Google Pane. Actually, this is another reason I chose this phone over other brands. It's really close to stock Android, even the updates are quick to be released. The Xperia XZ already received June Android security update, which is the fastest among OEMs. I guess we have to wait some time for the XZ Premium to get the update but since the phone is relatively still new and haven't been released worldwide yet, including the fact that maybe Sony is kinda in a phase of collecting feedback, it's going to take some time.
@Blackbagz , when we state in the product documentation that we support micro SD cards up to 256GB it's what we have verified that we support. This verification includes load testing with a full memory card to ensure that the phone software doesn't encounter performance issues. 256GB is the current maximum size cards in the micro SD format on the market today.
We have also verified that the Xperia XZ Premium fulfills the SDXC standard, which is the standard that enables support for SD cards above 32GB and up to 2TB.
So the phone should be able to support micro SD cards up to 2TB, but as @EmNr (and @Viridis) writes we prefer to keep our statement on the safe side :smileysmileywink:
