XZ Premium first impression - and you better not edit this!

I posted in a thread and went back today to see my thread was edited by Alexdon!!! I posted a lot of feedback that i believed would be useful but to be edited and not be told about the edit, that wasn't very nice considering i was providing feedback on my first impressions of the phone. Very messy if this is something that is condoned by Sony

So. let's see if the dude violates me again in my own thread

I'm an android user. I've come from a line of HTC devices and prior to them i had the n900 maemo. Had the desire HD, Sensation, One M7 and my outgoing handset the One M9 was tempted to get the U11 seing as i've been with the HTC family for at least 6 years but most of my products at home are sony, so why not

Preorder - i preordered my handset as i was due an upgrade. received it on the 2nd June

Location - located in the UK on Voda (should've switched to EE but oh well)

Previous deivice - HTC One M9

Likes - love the design of the handset, felt more of a premium device compared to the U11 that i was also considering. the feel, the screen resolution obviously and the speed is always a plus. I like the fact it is in 4k and looking forward to using the slowmo a great deal. I said above most of my products at home are Sony. i have a bravia, ps3 and ps4 pro plus sound bar, all sony. so was very keen to see how the integration would work. the fingerprint scanner feature wasn't a decising factor but it was a nice to have

Dislikes - I don't like the headphones that comes with it. These umbrella type headphones that you have to shove into your ear doesn't work for me. As soon as they go in, they come straight back out again. I much preferred the models like MDR-E820 or even the ones that were supplied with the old PSP (that i still use!) . Which brings me to my second issue. The sound. It's way poorer than the last 2 HTC handsets i've had (M7 and M9). I use poweramp to play music. On the XZP i have to pump it to maximum just to hear it, whereas on the HTC devices, i'm scared to turn it up even 3/4 of the way. I hope this can be addressed in a firmware update but this is what i've found so far. The quality is not an issue, it's crystal clear, just needs more volume. Third thing is lack of live wallpapers. Only one out the box. I like it that's why i'm still using it, would love to see more than just one, or even one available on the net somewhere...live remember, not just standard. Fourth thing for me is the SD card slot. on the XZP you have upto 256 whereas the U11 is upto 2TB!!! While some of you may argue that's more than enough, remember what you say when you're on holiday and you take shots on this 4K device. The space will be eaten up pretty sharpish and that also goes for stills. It's a real shame the device couldn't stretch even to maybe 512gb. Last thing is newsfeed. I was so used to the blinkfeed feature on the HTC i was pretty naive to believe something similar would be on the XZP. There isn't and some people mentioned the news app. Yes i have it and it's a stock item. But for a home screen, i would've preferred something like a blinkfeed type screen for news, sport and entertainment.

A note about the battery. If you play games on your phone, this phone will not last you a full day. It's not a complaint per se but an observation. I'm not fussed that it doesn't last all day, but a warning to those that want to quote stats. Battery killers such as Clash of Clans, Marvels Contest of Champions are two i play and within one or 2 hours, it's already down from ful to like 75%.

This is my thread not some elses who decided to edit my post. So want to see if this happens here

regarding newsfeed, have you checked Xperia Home settings? I know there has been some version that supported swiping to the right to open Google Now, but I'm not sure if it's available in the XZ Premium.
also I'm yet to see a phone with battery that doesn't get killed by playing games, maybe except Moto Z Play.

I agree about the games. Seems strange to me to spend 6 to 8 hundred dollars for a tool to play games on.

These are communication devices... you know email, texting, phone calls, GPS. Doing what they are originally designed for makes the battery last two days, not two hours.

I dunno, some people spend that amount of money on gaming consoles or PC builds Slightly_smiling_Face also I wouldn't say smartphones are only communication devices nowadays, they can often replace a laptop or PC for many people nowadays.

I know about the google now and holding the home button too. That's not what i mean. I was hoping for a scrolling down home screen filled with news, not a screen i'd need to hold the home button for (which you also had on the HTC phones too btw)

And regarding the battery. as per my post, it wasn't a complaint but more of an observation and warning to those that look at the specs and stats and tests then say it's an epic fail, which i wouldn't agree with. Thanks smileyhappy:

Also, i couldn't see anyone carting around a ps4 pro or a desktop pc to play games while on a train or plane or just out walking. It's not just a communication device. Also, these devices are designed for this capability. The devices you're talking about are decades old. time has moved on since. smh

what I meant is, there was a version of Xperia Home (i.e. the launcher) that would show Google Now cards on one of the homescreens. like, you know how you can scroll the homescreens to the left and right? one of those screens would be Google Now feed. it's just that I'm not sure if that version is on XZ Premium.

Yeah the volume! I plugged in my high quality sennheiser, played my YouTube music playlist & I thought the volume was like 60 or 70%, only to discover it was actually at max!! Now using my wife's iPhone 6  to listen to music. Now she's even pissed off about my issues with my Sony 😞

Whoa did they? I'm sorry for you. I mean, it's not that you're trashing the phone at all, yours is a pretty good review too. A bit of grammatical error here and there, but that's not the problem, as long as people can understand you that's good enough right. No offense, though.

Anyway, I don't think there is even 2 TB SD card in the market right now. The maximum capacity is 256 GB, with 1 TB just announced by SanDisk last year but the later is still under development for consumer use. Yes, announcing that your device is capable to process 2 TB SD card can be good too for marketing but it is actually quite risky. Manufacturers can face serious legal issues due to false advertising. So I guess Sony doesn't want to take that chances.

I can't say much about the speaker since my previous phone was an Xperia XZ and yes, with terrible volume. Sometimes I couldn't even hear what came out of it. But for XZ Premium, it's more than enough for me. Because one of the reason I got this phone is for its LDAC support since I own a LDAC compatible high-red headphones.

As for the battery usage when playing games, I'm sorry as I can't really comment on that since I don't play enough mobile games. But in term of average use, the battery life is sufficient. I really wish I have a PS4 so I can play PS4 games using this phone but maybe in the future. I'm starting to believe that although this is an Android phone, it kinda behave like iPhones - a device to make basic things done, not as versatile as Samsung or OnePlus 3T. It's a great phone, though!

This is only my opinion and I'm trying not to be too nit-picky but you know, sometimes we can't help it lol. You're cool, keep it up!
