Can't move apps to memory card

I just got my Xperia XZ Premium and find myself quite liking the device.

But I I just found out that the option to move apps to the SD card seems to be missing - on my precious Xperia XZ it is there (same model memory card, android 7.1.1 as well)

Has anyone an idea how to fix that issue without rooting the device?

How about when you go to settings>storage and memory>transfer data

No it does not work their or in the app section.

Can anyone with a Sony Xperia XZ Premium say if it works for him?

I really want to know if that's and individual issue for me (then I would try out different memory cards etc.) or a general problem.

I've noticed that as well. Very annoying. That along with features the XZ has that the XZP does not, like tap to wake, screen cover settings option, starting to regret purchasing it, despite the fact it's a great phone. Not sure why they would remove features from their "top" phone

I answered it here:

>it's been already removed in earlier Sony models (like the X). SD cards are pretty finicky when it comes to running apps from them, as it usually results in poorer performance, so I guess the feature has been discontinued in order to save people frustration with what would appear as "laggy phone".

I also wrote to the Sony Support and they confirmed that the feature is not present on the XZ Premium.

I can´t really accept the excuse "apps could run laggy" that might be true if you use the android function which is absent from about all "Top" Smartphones which is to create a unified internal memory uninting your sd card and internal memory but thats not what I´m complaining about.

Also on the XZ you can move apps and I personally did never had any problems with that - about all up to date Android apps should run fine from memory cards (Maybe I´ve to venture out and search for the cheapest and slowest card on the market just to see there any problems turn up...)
