So the QC 3.0 UCH12 in the box is incompatible with XZP ?

Hello guys, I've been reading for severals hours today about QuickCharge technology and came up to the conclusion that my device should be charging much faster than it is ( Even with battery care off )

I was a bit underwhelmed when I compared the QC3.0 with the QC2.0 as I expected much faster charging.

Little digging and came up with the conclusion that the UCH12 charger that came with the XZP is not listed as compatible on Sony website ! ???!!!!? ?

https://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/quick-charger-uch12/specifications/

HOWEVER the UCH12is the one that should be used ?

https://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/quick-charger-uch12w/specifications/

I don't get it. Sony packed an incompatible QC3.0 charger in the box ?

The charger came with UBC20 cable ...

Any explanation please ?

I am using a UGREEN QC3.0 charger+UGREEN usb3.0 type-c cable (gen 1) which more faster than sony charger. This UGREEN Is one of the most advanced brands in china and it has a high quality control and cheap. For Car Charger or hdmi cable all good as well. I think it can get from amazon.

Time for 90% charge

 UGREEN QC3.0 charger  + UGREEN usb3.0 type-c cable (gen 1) =   around 40 mins

 UCH12 + UGREEN usb3.0 type-c cable (gen 1) =around 50 mins

 UCH12 + UCB 20 = around 65 mins

UGREEN QC3.0 charger   +  UCB 20 = around 55 mins

That's not logical at all...

90% of the battery capacity is 2900 mah ....

The charger  max output is 2700 mah  ( UCH12 ) so you can't get a 90% charge in less than 1 hour 20 mins because it's adaptive  and charging rate is halved at 80% and if you happen to force the full charging output at 2700 mah you need 1.074 hours or  65 mins and this is again, NOT POSSIBLE.

my guess is, UCH12 specs were written before XZP was released and weren't updated then. any QuickCharge 3.0 charger should be compatible with XZP.

That's not exactly the case I guess. If you search on this forum, the combination of UCH12 + UCB20 won't give you QC3.0 on the XZP which is strange.

Can anybody confirm this to me ?

The "W" in UCH12W refers to the cable it's packaged with only.

The cable should be UCB20 which is rated for 12v 3A.

Hi, I'm baffled by this same question. Sony XZ Premium packs incompatible accessories in box which does not deliver full capacity required by it's device's for maxium performance, is it because Sony wants their customers to purchase optional accessories that meets the desired requirements & grab more bucks? They also warn not to use other than "original & recommended" to avoid damages to devices, Apple iPad & iPhones has the same practice.

my phone just charged from 22 to 50% in 17 minutes using UCH-12 charger and UCB20 cable, I'd say it's fast Slightly_smiling_Face

Fixed it for you, and.. Yes.

Why would any manufacturer kill off their accessory sales by packing in the best they make?

Not all users will care what headphones are bundles, 50%+ will have not one clue what a UCH12 does that a UCH10 doesn't. Likewise a fair percentage won't really be bothered by a pair of Mh750 earbuds as opposed to a pair of NC750 or even greater buds.

All the accessories bundled with xz premium ARE compatible, the only thing I would recommend is an extra USB3 to USB C cable, as the cable provided is build for power, not speed and as such has USB2 transfer speeds.

I think his point was that Sony packs a QC3 charger that supposedly isn't compatible with the XZP. which I'm not sure about since, as I said, it appears to charge my phone rather quickly (although I haven't checked if it's "up to QC3 specs" quickly)
