I recently reset then reinstalled marshmallow. But Google services is constantly my largest battery drain. This is why I did the reinstall. I've googled it to death loads of old issues but nothing that's helped. Any suggestions?
Thanks Mike
It appears that the OS is running hot in the background, suggest that when there is about 15% left press Google Play Services (under Battery usage) to see more detailed information about that specific app. Please upload a new screenshot when there is about 10-15% left and I'll look at it.
Thanks in advance @Mike78.
Hi not sure if it's low enough I've used the screen a bit more tonight, but it's lasted a bit longer than normal.. .
Hi again @Mike78,
In that case I suggest that you temorary remove your Google account for a day. This is done under Settings > Accounts > Google > Your e-mailaddress > ... > Remove account. Reboot your phone and use it for a day. Did the battery performance improve?
Before you remove your account, make sure that you have all the information required to login again.
Hi, I did as suggested for about 3 hours then needed my contacts back to make an urgent call so had to reinstall. In that brief time 'Google services' seemed to eat up as much battery. Then that night it started playing up. So I decided to do another system install from fresh using companion. Sure enough same thing. I've installed an app to help check for wake lock and it also shows the same. This is a one hour snapshot while I was filing, then uploading to utube, and more. It's still showing 'google services at the top' Im struggling to try what you suggest I need my phone too much.
I'll charge it tonight, then uninstall Google see if that helps over night then report back. Surely this shouldn't happen after a reinstall. Also note it's 'google services' not Google play services, if this matters. what's the difference? Cheer. MIKE
OK I took Google off as requested, fully charged. I used it about an hour or two then left off charge all night night. Sure enough the Google services drops way down. Not sure what this means, but clearly taking it off stops it draining. Does this mean it's not a third party app draining it? Is it a Google setting, or am I way off the mark. Thanks again for any support in fixing this.
Put Google back on, and look what jumps to the top for battery use, any suggestions?
I got the exact same problem! Took some screenshots, this it a day with barly using the phone at all(as you can see by the screen on time). But still Google Play Services has used 19%...
Was not like this before I updated to 6.0.1.
I've also tried doing repair via the companion app, but got the same problem after the reinstall, so this seems to be a problem with the software.
Let me know if there is anything I can test to help you find the cause of the problem!
I MAY have found the issue, (without help from Sony). it's too early to tell but what build version are u using? I've downgraded a bit to 23.5.A.0.570. I think I was on 575 at the end before. It's still marshmallow, but seems not to drain the battery as much. I downgraded but keep my settings etc as they were and didn't wipe them. You can see when I downgraded by the blank line, and the flatter line after.
