vaio VGN-Z2 speed/stamina switch not working

Anybody know which driver enables or controles the Speed/Stamina switch (also S1,S2 & eject buttons) all not working on my Vaio Z series. Can only change the speed by restarting the machine. Have trid the utilities and Power management drivers - no change.

Hi, I have same problem with support call with Sony.

This seems to of occurred for me after one or all the following:

1/ Update to Vista SP2
2/ Bios Update
3/ Sony DLL update

The recomendation from Sony is to restore back to working config.

Can you confirm when yours stopped working ?

Thanks,?

Certainly not SP2 update, I’m sure it was either Bios Update or the Sony DLL update. Only noticed the problem after these were both installed. Also restore did not work so I suspect the Bios Update.

Hi

Thanks for reply - I agree; as did restore point.

I reinstalled the old BIOS but problem remained.

I tried to remove the Sony Utilies DLL update but laptop went ''mad''
(displayed lots of warning that battery was faulty plus other system errors - so I had to re-install the update)

Looks like we are a step closer - any ideas ?

Cheers,
Trevor.

Me 2 🙂

I also tried installing the following (as suggested by Sony) but again, made no difference

2 utilities on your VAIO:

http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/info/info.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&url=VAIO/Updates/EP000017...

http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/info/info.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&url=Vaio/Original/VAIO%20...

I am now concluding its the Sony Utilies DLL update but I cannot easily remove that to test.

So, hope you have better luck & look forward to your post,

Cheers.

Okay, could not wait on your reply - now pleased to say I am now all working

Conclusion is the : Sony Utilities DLL was the problem, as this is now not listed on the updates page & I recovered from a backup & re-applied SP2 plus BIOS update etc etc & all working.

🙂 Happy Days!
