problems starting up FR285M

hi hope someone can help, my niece aged 13 has a huge problem with her vaio laptop and i said i will try to sort it out for her, but tried all i can think of .She has recently run and installed Windows updates but hasnt downloaded anything else and has Norton anti virus protection

problems are sometimes when starting it says operating system not found

or it will start and say system error, hard error for which u cant do anything but turn it off

sometimes blue screen and close down info comes on

sometimes F1 F2 black screen comes on

when i looked through her software realised that she has no recovery disc, and tried the recovery option on computer when i could actually get on but still problems

any help gratefully received
thanks Karen

Hi Karen.

Bad news I'm afraid, sounds like the hard disk is packing up :slight_frown: - but fear not as it's probably within it's first 12 months - therefore those people at VAIO-Link can repair it for you.

When you do send it in, tell them you don't have a recovery DVD.

had a reply from Sony saying apparantly there are no recovery discs issued with my nieces laptop, cos there is facility on computer, which seems fine as long as there has been no major problem to that.Anyways run it, has already but thought i had better humor them, and now waiting for reply to my email, thats didnt work , really nosiy hard drive on start up and now wont load programs or auto run any discs

will let you know what happens

As I have said before, VAIO-Link really need to take it in if the hard disk isn't working well.

Good luck anyway
