I bought a VAIO PCG-K115S last May and have been having a ball with it ever since. Just recently though, it has been restarting on it's own accord. It does not do it all the time, just every now and then. I sent an error report to Microsoft, (through the standard pop-up) and they said it was a problem with a driver? It said it could be a hardware driver or a software problem?? I cannot think what it might be. The only hardware i have attached, are a USB mouse, printer, BT broadband modem and an MP3 player through Sonicstage. None of these caused problems when i first installed them. I have put a few games, virus protections on etc with regards to Software, but again nothing was put on right before the problems started...only Championship Manager...that wouldn't be it would it?
I have read a couple of threads, and there are mentions of problems with receiving updates from Microsoft. I have done this recently too...would this be it?
How can i fix it...do a restore?
Sorry for the mass expanse of writing but i'm not THAT great with computers...
Any responses please put them in lamens terms!!
Thanks in advance...
Damien.
Damien,
Games can cause PCs to crash, so I would for an update for it.
Thanks for the response!
So you think Championship Manager may have caused the computer to restart like it is?
Sorry for sounding stupid...when you say get an update for the game...what do you mean? Download something from their website???
Thanks again
Another thing...
You dont think i need to download anything from the VAIO-LINK webpage to solve the problem then? a media update or 'original driver package' or something?
Also..i am expecting delivery of an external hard-drive tomorrow...if i installed the game onto this would that stop the laptop restarting?
Yes, games developers make things called "patches", they usually stop common problems that gamers report to them. Getting patches helps sort problems out.
As for getting anything from VAIO-Link, lets see how this goes first.
Installing the game on an external disk won't make much difference.
Thanks so much!
Found a couple of patches on the Championship Manager website...dowloading them now.
I'll see how the computer runs over the next few days..if i get any probs i'll be straight back here!!
Cheers again...
OK, let us know how you get on.

I know I'm like a dog with a bone but I'm sure there is something wrong with the K series of Vaio. There seem to be a lot of problems on here and other forums with freezing or random restarting
