OVERHEATING

Hi, i have seen many posts through this forum talking about overheating of the cpu etc. But my problem is that whenever i put my laptop on, i can never hear anything from the fan. And then half an hour later it gets abit warm underneath and to the left and right of the touch pad. Maybe anofa 2 hrs l8r it gets boilin hot and can feel the heat thru the keyboard etc. Its only half a year old and im gettin concerned. Is it normal to heat up. BTW, there is no fault in the performance and it hasnt shud down or owt yet.

MODEL
VGN FS315M

thanks alot
Adam

Hi all,
I have a VGN-A317M (1,5 years old) and my overheating problems started this summer which is particularly hot (I'm in south of france). I've seen my CPU going up to 73°C lately while playing a HD movie and at an idle state the temperature is 58-59 °C.

I'm concerned by the fact that the fan seems to start spinning when the CPU load is important and not always when the temperature is increasing. It's sad because when it's on, it's doing a great job. Too bad there is no setting to control it independently of "Vaio Power Control" ...

It's safe as long as you stay around 12cm away from the vent, as you do not want to damage the fan
