last i also had the typical cd-rom drive problem with the vaio laptops: i've done my customs and modifications and though u i dont make any mistakes, all my symbols for the cd-roms drives wont display any more. also the cd-rom drive itselves wont work...
i was going to googling for and found a wonderful hint:
Problem is the false and ugly deinstallation of filter drivers.
- run regedit
- then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- delete the keys "UpperFilters" and "lowerFilters"
