 at long last the misterious virus' warnings and missing file has been solved

the hercules dudes replied to me today

quote:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Dear Customer,

This file is part of the soundcard driver package but is used only with Windows 2000. The only thing this file does is to raise the Sound Hardware acceleration to full which Windows XP does by default.

The file can be remove safely without affecting the sound functionality. For some reason since late last week Norton Anti-Virus sees this file as a virus but in fact is not.

Best Regards,
Hercules, Thrustmaster Technical support

and so i can again injoy my fortissimo sound with out no worries

regards ben

I'm surprised they haven't posted that on their website, they must have got a hell of a lot of support queries about it.

P.S. /sarcasm MWAHAHAHA I WAS RIGHT I OWN YOU ALL I AM THE GREATEST /end sarcasm

they said that it is only been happening since late last week

its proberly caused by one of the new updates norton has just isued i know that i just installed the wmi update for my anti virus which sort of changes the whole look of things let alone how many virus definitions they have released in the past mounth

hopefully before they conntacted me they actaully tested it and not just guessed that it wasnt

Thats why I don't use Norton, it sucks

It's not great, but it comes free with virtually everything which is why I have it. False detection problems are usually fixed within a new release or two.

never heard of that i will have to check it out

my pc came with the oem version of 2003 when it ran out i thought yeah i will upgrade to internet security

i would have been better off buying the norton anti virus 2004 and keeping the free zone alarm as my norton doesnt even stealth all my ports so really theres not much point of having the fire wall

i will check out this armour app
