I have just purchased a Vaio VGN-FW31ZJ but have noticed two hazy white patches on the LCD screen. Quite small but nonetheless annoying Is this a fault of the LCD screen and should I sent it back?
Roberto
Do these white patches stay when you play a dvd?
Hi Roberto,
Can you post a picture?
It will have to be with a digital camera - a screen shot will not work as it will send us a normal screen without the problem showing.
Thanks for your reply guys I have spoken to Vaio support and I have sent the Laptop back for repair. I believe it is a faulty LCD screen.
On a further note I have to commend the support I have received exemplary. I bought the laptop in the UK but live in Italy. I initially contacted UK support put was quickly put in touch with Vaio Italy who promptly responded to my phone call and within minutes diagnosed the (possible) problem. They arranged for a Courier to pick up the laptop, the courier arrived with a box provided by Sony for transport.
The laptop is now Germany awaiting repair. They say they will turn it around and send it back within 5 working days.. !! I shall update on this..
Roberto
After getting a call from Sony Europe to describe the problem (They say they couldn't see it) I have had the laptop returned to me within 4 working days !!!
The screen has been replaced and the problem has been fixed ..Great work
but on the new screen there is a "stuck" pixel which I am trying to fix and also they forgot to replace one of the rubber feet that is on the laptop chassis and has to be removed in order to get to the screw behind it. . I rang Sony Support about the missing rubber feet and they said they would sent me one via post.
So apart from this small detail I am happy with the result.
