Failed installation of Vista

After starting an installation of Vista and formating the drive as one partition, I run out of battery power and the installation has failed. I know I SHOULD have been running on mains.

Now when I go to boot the Vaio VGN-A617s halts just at the start of the boot process.
If I go into the Bios it gets as far as
Pri Master Toshiba MK1234GSX AH001A
Ultra DNA Mode-5 SMART Capable and Status OK
It now sits there for ever.
Any suggestions ?

Hi pict99 and welcome.

Have you tried booting from the installation disc and following the install process again?

With the mains attached this time!!

It looks as if it has altered the boot priority and I unable to get into the BIOS to make it boot from the DVD
It looks to me as if it is trying to boot from the failed installation on the C drive

I was going to boot to my backup disks in the DVD drive if only I could change the boot priority.

Will it let you restore the BIOS Defaults?

1. Turn on your VAIO.
2. When you see the Sony logo, press F2 several times.
3. You will get the PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility window.
4. Press F9 to get default values and then press ENTER to confirm.
5. Press F10 to save changes and exit and then press ENTER to confirm.
6. You have restored the default values and your VAIO will now restart.
