Just wondered if anybody has the same problem with VAIO equipped with 9600M GT.
Despite it's (quite big) price and all that buzz around all that multimedia features and gaming possibilities of 9600m gt, it seems to run slower than cheaper, technologically less advanced IBM ThinkPad bought about two years earlier. Moreover, IBM notebook is equipped with less RAM than my VAIO.
It's sad to see how smooth fullscreen flash sites work on my friend's notebook, how nice it's desktop redraws, how well Photoshop CS4 GPU enabled features work.
When I work on my VAIO, I can see how windows redraw (it ain't big problem but enough to be noticeable), fullscreen scroll is jagged sometimes and Photoshop CS4 GPU enabled features work terrible (and the size of the image doesn't matter) 😞 I tried many options/settings/configs but results are still far below what should be the norm for that price.
I've heard that gaming performance is poor too. I haven't tried to play any game on my Vaio so far and I suppose I will just get more angry If I try.
Maybe it's just the problem of not well-optimized drivers. If so, I'm a bit worried how much time it will take for Sony to release update.
Aformentioned problem exists both on Vista Home Premium 32-bit and Windows 7 RC 64-bit.
I also think that Sony should work quicker when it comes to providing quality updates. Since release of latest Sony GPU driver update, NVIDIA provided few. Of course they don't work on VAIO without modding. I wonder if NVIDIA prepares customized GPU's for Sony. I don't think so.
