Hi everybody,
Since yesterday I have been unable to view new messages even though I receive the notifications of new message and lost call. That is obviously a big problem and I can't relate it to anything I did in the last few days, no new apps, no updates, nothing, and all of a sudden this happen.
Dunno if it's a problem with the sim card or a problem with gingerbread...
I would be very appreciated if someone can help me.
My phone, by the way, is the Xperia Arc S.

From my past experience i could very well say that this issue is caused whenever date and time are set incorrectly
Try sending a message from other mobile to your mobile and see exactly how it behaves. Write everything you face. That would help to understand
However If you directly wan't to proceed with the troubleshooting then as follows but you will loose data on phone while doing a factory data reset and software repair :
Settings > storage > settings reset ( see if problem exists ) if yes then next
Settings > storage > factory data reset ( You will loose all data on phone , messages contacts, etc so backup before proceeding )
If problem exists then last thing to do

Backup everything as it will erase all data on phone (sms, contacts,apps)
Update/Repair your phone via PCC or SUS
PCC (PC COMPANION) – Repair your software with this .First do the setup without connecting your mobile to pc.(only connect when you are asked to).
Do it as follow >> PCC > SUPPORT ZONE> SOFTWARE UPDATE> REPAIR SOFTWARE (written with blue)

SUS ( Sony Update Service) ... download and install it on pc and follow the on-screen instructions http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.12.5.exe

Can you elaborate on one thing
You get a notification for a message, in what way you are not able to see it ?
you go to messaging app and you don't find any new message there ?
or you find a new message there but you are not able to open it/ see it ?
I go to messaging app and when I open the conversation/thread of the person that just sent me the message I can only see old messages, not the new ones.
And by the way, the conversation order, which used to be sort by date received is no longer like that, now it's just random. For example, I have a conversation with helen and patrick, where patrick appears first; if helen send me a new message, the order maintains the same, patrick first, helen next.
About the date and time issue, no deal.
