RDR-HXD995 - watching a different programme when recording

With the RDR-HXD995, is it possible to set up timer recording and then, whilst the programme is being recorded, watch a different programme?  If so, how do I do it?  Anyspecific connections between recorder and TV needed (or any to be avoided to make it work)?

I am in the UK, with a digital only signal, using Freeview built into the HXD995 recorder.

Thanks.

There is absolutely no way you can watch another programme while you are recording. You can watch a recorded title or a DVD, but no TV channels. To do it, it should have a twin decoder inside that simply is not there. One could argue that, having an analogue and a digital tuner it should be possible at least to see channel from those tuner, but also this is not possible and in any case it make sense no more because we are going all digital.

Of course you can still watch another program on the TV if the TV set has its own digital tuner (internal or external).

Hi,

all the info you need can be found in this pdf manual for your model below.

download the English version from there.

Thanks, but I already have the full user manual (I bought the product from new).

The trouble is that, on page 39 of that manual, about half way down, there is a heading that says "To watch another TV programme while recording".

I have tried to follow the instructions there, but get messages on the TV screen (when trying to change programme) to the effect that the requested operation is not allowable.

And I am not at all sure whether my TV is connected to Line 2 or 3 or what (nor do I know how I find out).

So, whenever I am recording, all I can watch is the progamme that is being recorded - so there is not much point recording it!!

So my original question is still unanswered - can you watch one progamme and record another with this recorder and, if so, how do I do that?

Thanks Rooobb - a specific and clear response at last, thanks for the clarity.  Shame the answer is that but at least I now know what I can and cannot do.

Time to change the TV to one that also has Freeview in it, I think, then as you say, I can record one programme from the HXD955 Freeview box whilst watching another channel from the TV Freview box.

Cheers
