New SONY person with connection questions

Dear One and All.

My apologies up front if this question sounds stupid. I have just bought a KDL-37EX403 along with a BDP S380 Blu [DVD player] and I am having a few problems trying to set-up the various cables/links into the back of my set. I also have a Humax FreeSat HDR and a B&O VCR.

1)     When linking in the DVD player and the SatBox, which both use HDMI cables, is there a preference into which HDMI socket they are plugged ?

2)     As the VCR player only has a scart lead I assume it should be linked into the scart 2 connection.

3)     Having linked these items up I would like to be able to set the sound levels across the TV/SatBox/DVD/VCR to all be the same and not have to use the various hand-sets to adjust each one everytime.

4)     I have noticed already that sometimes I can hear in the background some broadcasting from another source at the sametime as watching the Humax programmes.

5)     I have also tried downloading the Firmware update but when inserting my USB device - Nothing happens

Welcome to the forums

With regards to the firmware, make sure you don;t extract the file from the folder it creates after unzipping. You need to have e.g. G:\original folder name\file name - so the TV sees the folder and the file, if that makes sense.
