Media Player SMP-N100 - connection problem

Hi

Just purchase a Sony Media Player SMP-N100 and have a issue connecting my PC for media sharing.

I have connected the media player on my wi-fi network OK and can stream content from the internet.

I have downloaded and installed Serviio v0.6.0.1 dnla media streming server.  I have configured a file path in the library setting that contains mp3 files.

On refresh of the renderer profile in Serviio I can see the IP address of the media player  - I have set the Profile from the drop down menu to Sony SMP-N100.

In the Media Player I have gone into Connection Server Settings - Connection Server Diagnostics and it finds my PC (the MAC address is displayed) but shows a status of Failed.  Highlighting this error provides a message concerning firewall settings.

I have turned off my Win XP Firewall.

I have also, set up Network Sharing on the folder that I confgiured as my library path in Serviio.

Any help and advice appreciated.

Thanks

Hello haguey,

Thank you for your post and the clear description of the problem.

The Serviio  can see your media player IP address (under renderer profile) but i think it has red dot beside it. Is that what you have too? please confirm

The firewall blocked the connection between both devices for some reason during the installation (set-up), so would your try uninstall Serviio then switch off any firewall before you do new installation , try again

Also, please be sure there is no other DLNA sharing softwares are installed at your PC because other third party software sometimes reserve the communication port which will  be used by Serviio.

Thanks
