Hi,

your question is a bit vague, but have you tried this method- hold down HDD button for 10 seconds or until the FORMAT message appears on the screen, failing that the instuctions should be in the manual near the back i believe.

I have put a new harddisk into the recorder, the old one broke down. Recorder does not recognise the new disk, so I suppose it needs a formatting. Have not a clue how/what.

I have tried your solution, no show. Thank you for new suggestions.

since i have never used one of these recorders i cannot be certain how you can format in situ, however another way may be possible to you and thats to place the drive in a caddy and format it using your pc or laptop then place the drive back into the recorder.
