BDP-S5000ES Blu-Ray Wont Play Blu-Ray

After trawling the net for the past couple of days, I'm starting to think this problem is unique to my particular machine. Has anybody had this problem on this Blu-Ray player? It's suddenly stopped playing all Blu-Rays, yet plays DVDs fine. I've restored factory settings and updated to the latest Firmware again (024) but nothing makes a difference. The machine is less than 2 yrs old, is in a dedicated cinema room and only gets used at weekends to watch two or three films. I've got a Blu-ray player that's first generation that still works fine and it didn't cost anywhere near as much, even back then. To make things worse the warranty is only for a year. If anybody can help me to avoid a repair bill, I would be very thankful.

all merchandise is expected to last a reasonable amount of time even after the guarantee runs out especially high end goods, no reason why you should not get help with this, have a butchers at the link below.

Thanks for the information. I'm going to look into this as SSAV, where I bought it and Sony are adamant that I must pay for any repair. It reminded me that I subscribe to Which too, so I'll see if I can get some advice from them. I will add any info I get back here.

AFAIK you normally have two lenses in drives, a red one for CD & DVD and a Blue one for Blu-ray, so it maybe that the Blue one has failed if you are still able to use it to playback DVDs. I'd get in touch with your local service centre as they will be able to correctly diagnose it.
