My Sony tv wired Ethernet is not working.

Oreo update done on KD-65XE9005 and since this update the tv keeps stating ‘Ethernet is not connected’ and I can not use tv as for you tube Netflix etc.

I have tried a soft soft reset and it doesn’t work.

can anybody assist? Thanks

I am on sky broadband.
You could do with looking at what your gateway is normally.
Usually 192.168.0.1
I put primary DNS as the same 192.168.0.1
Secondary DNS I used Google's 8.8.8.8

I set my IP to 192.168.0.100

Of course you need to know what you IP range is.

In most cases the above is ok.
But some routers use different IP range. Like 192.168.1.xxx for example.

You can copy/paste the same info set by the tv itself when using DHCP. Just avoid to use an IP address that is not reserved or in the range the router use to assign it to other devices using DHCP since it can duplicate and address already in use and make the connection not working.

For the DNS too you can use public dns like 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 instead of the ones provided by your ISP

Yep touch wood I've had no more issues so far. Hopefully not just a coincidence.

I raised another entry but to summarise, this is what ive tried so far!!!

-------------------------

https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/android-tv/sony-bravia-tv-no-internet-access-since-v8-0-0-v6-6520-ke...

KD-55XF9005 V8.0.0 V66520 kernel: 3.10.79

Since V6.6520 ( PKG6.6520.0252EUA ) software update we cannot connect TV to the internet. It connects to the LAN but without internet access.

WIRED was working perfectly and allowed software upgrade!

All devices in the rest of the house are functioning correctly

- network status, everything looks good and picking up DHCP correctly

connection methind: wired
cable connection: ok
Ip address setting: Auto
ip address: 192.168.8..205
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.8.123
primary dns: 81.139.57.100
secondry dns: 81.139.56.100
MAC: 70:26:05:B6:E2:AB
Proxy server: Not used

SAME FOR WIFI DHCP AS WELL

Connection Results
cable connection: OK
Local access: OK
Internet access: Failed

- i Can ping tv from laptop, so connected

- there are no sat or cable connections just HDMI from SKY and CAT5 from LAN

- tried a different cat5 cable

- different LAN port

- tried SKY box and Laptop in LAN port, both work

- checked date and time on TV and router

- recycled power via taking plug out of TV and router in between each stage / change

- tried DHCP & Fixed IP

- tried different router (current is Draytex) but tried BT Home Hub

-EDIT 01/08/19 - tried to connect to iphone hot spot - connects then just reboots and will loop until you quickly go in and turn off wifi or stop hotspot!!!

- EDIT 05/08/19 - tried setting primary DNS to the same as the router / gateway - local access then failed as well as internet
- data and storage factory reset

- tried firmware on USB but said its all up to date

- batteries out of remote and pressed button for 10 seconds
- stopped the SAMBA service

- EDIT 01/08/19 - As per Robs suggestion we had already tried fixed ip with google servers

ROUTER LOG, so its trying to connect

After some use, the issue is still present for me after setting static ip, but occurs much less frequently.

Maybe twice a day with heavy use.

Hoping a software fix comes soon. Not great from premium brand.

mine will not connect at all on either wired or wireless.  Currently a useless brick if you want any streaming.

On occasion I can get it briefly to connect to my phone, then it reboots!

I will try Sony support when I get a FREE DAY!.  If not Ive 5 year warranty via John Lewis, Ill waste another day with their engineer...

Irony is that we have a Sony Home Theatre which I can plug into the same LAN port or connect via wireless.

hey ho ....

I am facing this issue now. I have done factory reset as well which worked for couple of hours and then  again same error came. All my other devices are working accept TV.

Ethernet is not connected

My TV software version is 8.0.0

Build- BRAVIA_ATV3_4K_EU-user 8.0.0 OPR2.170623.027.S32665551

The problem is that the tv has the wrong date/time. Date/time is taken from broadcast, so if you dont wacht tv from coax you do have a problem.

In 5 years time SONY has not been able to solve this issue, makes u wonder....

see this thread, it's the same issue:

Since last week my Tv has been displaying a no "Ethernet connection" up until last weekend a turn off and disconnect from the mains rectified the problem. On Saturday I was unable to connect by either wired or wireless. I did a factory reset and all seemed fine until last night. Today I am getting the error message but the Ethernet is connected, and showing connected and works but still getting error message. Router is fine I have changed router ports and internet woks fine on other devices, wired and wifi. IP address setting says "Auto" as I believe Sky does not have a static IP Is this a problem that can be rectified at my end or is a Sony problem. Thanks

It was my date and time setting. It was set to "broadcast time". I only stream so dont have an Ariel Changed it and now everything seems to be fine. (for now)

Well that lasted only a short time. Connection results. Cable connection OK. local access OK. Internet access Failed
