XZs is very laggy

 Hi

I got my Xperia XZs 5 days ago.

First thing I did was updating it to Android 7.1.1

After first 2-3 days I started experiencing huge lags - during games, while using snapchat, while opening apps. Sometimes I can't open (click on) a facebook messenger chat icon while playing a game. I think it started being laggy after I recoreded a few slow-mo videos.

I previously had Xperia Z3 and Z and have never experienced anything like that.

I also noticed that sometimes the phone after locking gets very hot and rapdily loses battery. It happened two or three times.

Is my phone broken or is it the software fault?

I don't want to send it for a warranty check and wait 1 month for it to return unless I'm sure it's a device issue.

Any help?

Hi @Lipa08, I am sorry to hear you're having trouble with your new device. Slightly_frowning_Face

As a first step, can you please test your phone in safe mode and see if the same issue persists?

Greetings, I have also followed what you said into safe mode but the lagging problem is still there. Got my phone around a week a go too. But after an android upgrade I had yesterday, the issue began from there. Hope there is a way to solve this issue. Cheers Slightly_smiling_Face

Regards,

Greg

Hi @GregSean96,

If the same issue persists in safe mode I recommend you perform a software repair using Xperia Companion.

Hi

I did as you suggested.

I waited a week to see if there is any improvement. It's not as laggy as it was before but it still consumes massive amounts of RAM memory.

For example: when I run Pokemon Go app, it is extremely laggy while a friend next to me with a different android phone is playing it flawlessly. Why? Having a flagship phone with 4GB of RAM should be sufficient to play any game smoothly.

Should my RAM usage be at 60% in the idle state when no application is open?

It was posted by another member on the XZ forums... this issue has been tormenting XZ, X Performance and Z5 users... and apparently the problem is linked to Google Now, Assistant and Feed. So you can try turning those services off until an update with the fix is supplied.
