Xperia Xz`s battery drains very quickly (Build No 41.2.A.2.223)

Since I updated to the latest version (build No 41.2.A.2.223) my phone battery drains very quickly and the phone faced heat problem.Moreover sometimes apps not responding and lack of response at home.When dailing the `do not distrub mode' automatically come out. The most facing problem is the battery drains quickly in standby mode even i haven`t use the wifi, mobile data,GPS.Also facing in camera apps when taking picture in slow shutter speed,very hot and not responding.

So how next update will brings these bus fixes for us .I hope so.

Hi everyone,

Can you please test your devices in safe mode and let me know if you experience the same issue.

Hi Cameron, I've tried the phone in safe mode. I left the phone in safe mode for an hour without any Internet connection active and the battery didn't drop from 90%, which is what it was on when I started safe mode. I then activated WiFi and used the phone for a further hour.

As you can see from the screenshots, the battery has dropped by 4% and the phone idle drain still persists. In normal use I experience phone idle battery drain at a rate of about 25mAh every hour. My wife has an Xperia XA and only experiences a drain of 20mAh in total during over 7.5 hours of use.

I look forward to your response.

@Beachy1985,

The Xperia XA has a slower CPU so I would expect it to drain slower than you Xperia XZ.

Did you notice that the drain was significantly slower while in safe mode? If so, there is likely a third party app that is causing the problem. If not, please try the software repair using Xperia Companion.

@CameronT

Battery appeared to drain at the same rate in safe mode as it does in normal mode. If a 3rd party app is the issue, should I expect to see that app mentioned on the battery stats?

Many Thanks

@Beachy1985,

You won't always see the app reflected in the battery stats, but if it was the same in safe mode then it won't be a third party app anyway. I recommend you perform a software repair using Xperia Companion.

@CameronT

I performed a software repair a couple of weeks ago, this was after I'd received the OTA update to 7.1.1 which I had hoped would resolve this issue, however the software repair hasn't improved it.

Have you any other suggestions I could try?

Many thanks

Hi there,

I have the same problems as some of you guys. With my XZ it seems it started with the security update of june. Some days for the last weeks it wouldn't last 20 hours.

Last weekend i seemed to solve the battery drain with these two actions (found in some other forum-item):

- disable automatic scanning of Wifi and bluetooth for precise location (setting - location - <3-dot-iconright corner> - scanning).

- Clear all cache memory (settings - storage and memory - storage - internal shared storage - cachememory)

Apparently a hard reset of the device (Volume up and Off-button for 10 seconds) does not clear this cache.

I'm not a big user, but battery life with stamina will exceed well over two days.

Good luck with this.

If the software repair hasn't resolved the issue then all I can suggest from this point will be to contact your Local support team to arrange an assessment. Good luck.
