Hi @Hashgnom,
This is quite unfortunate, let's see if we can help get some clarity on this.
What happens when you use the default headphones that came with the handset, are they having the same problems?
Are you also aware if the Dr Dre headphones are OMTP or CTIA.
Please let me know.
Can you boot the handset into safe mode and test the headphones and let me know if the issue continues? I have supplied the instructions below.
I have a brand new Xperia XZ and I was so happy until I plugged in my well working Bose QuietComfort 20 headphones. The music plays for about 5-10 seconds and then it disconnects the headphones. Plugging them in and out again makes them work again for the same time.
It has to be some SW issue since the headphones works perfectly well on all other mobiles (including iPhone 5 and Xperia Z2) and its no geometrical difference between the plug on the Bose than on the headphones delivered with the XZ. Those work perfectly well, but isn't what I want to use of course.
Try refreshing your Smart Connect app:
- Go to Settings -> Apps -> Smart Connect -> Force stop, Uninstall updates, then go to Storage -> Clear data and restart your phone.
- Go to your Play Store and update Smart Connect again.
Smart Connect is not even running, so the Force stop is grey.
So now I tried to run in Safe Mode with the same problem and then I turned on Smort Connect to try doing as you suggested. I even tryed to uninstall Smart Connect and install it again without improvement.
If it was an electrical problem it shouldn't be this repetable. It happens all the time and has nothing to do with if I handle the cable in different ways or if it lies flat on the table.
In Settings -> Sound -> Accessory settings -> Automatic optimization -> try to play with this option on or off.
