SMS message delivering multiple times

Over the past couple of days every message that I've sent has delivered multiple times but when I check my phone its saying that it's not delivered as the circle is still turning at the side of the text. Only way I get it to send is by switching off the phone and back on again. Anyone having the same issue or is it just my phone?

do you use the stock SMS app? I remember having that very issue couple years ago when I was using QKSMS.

The standard one that comes with the phone yes. I've never had this problem before. Think it might be the phone as it seems to be taking ages to update apps aswell
