I'm sorry to point that, but an "old" 2016 phone is compared to a 2017 which is beginning to be shipped right now. We will have to compare it to iPhone 8, rather than 7.

Well,  in 5 months the same will be the situation, but reversed.

I don't think iPhone 7 is really classed as 2016 in same sense that say galaxy S7 is, late 2016 vs a device announced in Feb 2017 is pretty short period.

Fact remains, an android has beaten a latest iPhone in real world speed, something that was once considered not possible due to apple's amount of optimisation.

This is good news for all android users as it shows android is not the clunky mass market broad spectrum os it once was,

And excellent news for sony users who have long known that Xperia generally feel faster than same hw in another device.

You can argue the age of the iPhone 7+ all you want, you can't argue that Sony has seriously pulled out the stops with xz premium.
