Cleaning the cache and restarting works only temporary for me. I didn't optimize for doze in battery settings apps that send me notification and that works now. When I optimize those apps problems again. I think Doze in Android Nougat is more aggressive then Doze in Android Marshmallow.

There's a conflict between the stock messaging app and push notifications. The only way I was able to get push notifications working was by disabling SMS notifications from the default messaging app. Now I'm getting notifications for mail and Facebook and the like but of course by sacrificing sms notifications. Please sony we need a fix for this

Does anyone have a problem with receiving notifications for emails from Gmail and Yahoo apps? Also Facebook notifications? When I leave the phone for a while it just stops receiving those notifications although my old Z1C gets them with no problems. When I turn on the screen, notifications start to pour in. It's as if battery management disables these apps after the phone is idle for a while. I tried repairing with Xperia companion and made sure all my battery and notifications settings are made the right way but still the problem persists. Does anyone else suffer from this problem?

Yup, the same with Gmail for me. I usually leave my phone in the locker at the gym. When I get back to it, all other notifications are there (Facebook, etc) but only Gmail starts to update when I manually turn on the screen.

Have you got the Yahoo mail app? I've got the same problem with it too. What version of the phone do you have? Dual sim or single sim, US or European?

Don't have Yahoo. Using the F8332 Dual SIM, not sure what version. I've switched to Google Inbox though, and notifications are stable with this.

I have the same problems with Gmail, Outlook and other apps, such as Sofascore. The notifications arrive but a few hours late.

This is on a brand new XZ (F8331) running Android 7.1.1

For some reason on my new xperia xz the system had optimised all apps for battery consumption because I was having the same problem. Go to settings, battery then battery optimisation and reselect all apps that you don't want restricted in background and notifications should work.
