No podcast on X series

Is there any chance that it will be added back? It's a useful feature.

I'm really do not understand why Sony is stripping away features from their phones.

Once upon a time they used to be stuffed with everything you could possibly need, and I used to brag about: noise cancelling, tap to wake, amazing music app, FM radio, HDMI output and others.

Now the only thing remaing is noise cancelling. And HTC has it too, since a couple of month.

my guess is according to their metrics not enough people used the feature to keep maintaining it.

have you tried some third party podcast apps? I don't listen to podcasts, but I've heard good things about Podcast Addict https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bambuna.podcastaddict

that said, it's indeed a shame to see some features go that can't be replicated by using third party apps (like double tap to wake, for example).

Maybe you are right, but it seems that podcast are quite trendy right now.

Bye the way, Sony already had a podcast app: they should just let it there and make a some users happy.

"Less is more" works just for some contemporary artist, not for a multimedia company in a free market like Sony.

the thing is, maintaining many apps slows down development and makes releasing updates a slower process, because you have to make sure that each and every app works fine after the update. Song probably did the numbers and came to the conclusion that not enough people use it for the continued development to make sense. personally, I'm fine with cutting features that can be fully replicated using apps from Play Store, as it cuts on the clutter.

It's not my intention to debate with you but Xperia line started with a lot of facilities that other one didn't provide. Someone may use Radio, other Podcast, others HDMI and so on.

If they strip them away, and the solution is a thirdy party app, Xperia are going to became yet another android phone and not an outstanding device.

4K video and slow motion make it just a feature phone, Podcast , FM RADIO, HDMI and "tap-to-wake" make it a useful and omnipurpose device.

I hope that developers will read this post and start to steer away from this unuseful way of conduct.
