Google play store not allowing some apps to install

Hi all,

First post as I am the proud owner of my first Sony phone, just received today. The phone is an import from Hong Kong as it was £165 cheaper than the going rate in the UK atm. It is the G8142 variant, I'm not too sure if each region of the world has its own version of this phone?

I bought one for myself and my wife, she is using hers already and I'm still using my Note 4 as I'm at work and haven't got time atm to sort out my new phone.

She has tried to install the love island and the three apps but they are not being allowed to install? All the other apps she uses are working fine, I assume that Google play thinks the phone is in China and these apps won't be available to overseas persons.

My question is, is there away around this so that the phone will work exactly like a UK bought phone? It's not a massive problem but I would like to try and find an answer.

My Note 4 is an international version and that works with all apps, although I have got a custom ROM installed. I can't remember if this is rooted or not?

Could installing a different ROM or unrooting/rooting the Sony solve the problem?

I'm not familiar with Sony phones at all so some advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks,

Alcpone

If I understand your question correctly, I don't think Google Play has anything to do with the phone more like your account settings and region.

If you account settings are set to UK then  you should be able to access the UK market. What do you mean by you are not allowed to install ? Can you upload a screenshot of the error ?

And yes you can install a different ROM ( you country specific ) ...  Google Xperifirm and how to install it on XZ Premium. Not sure if we're allowed to share this here..

Note: DONT UNLOCK THE BOOTLODER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE

Thanks for the reply.

My wife said when she found those 2 apps it said not available to download onto your device or something along those lines. She's asleep now so I can't have alook at her phone and I haven't even started to use my phone just yet.

When you say set to the UK do you mean just the language settings or is there something else that should be set aswel.

I will check out that firmware software.

Cheers
