Z5 Compact camera issues

Hi all, I'm having real problems with the camera app on my Z5 Compact, running Marshmallow.

After using the camera, I'm variously seeing the following issues:

  • Phone heating up
  • Battery life decreasing rapidly
  • Phone not responding when pressing the power button
  • Phone responding slowly

There's nothing obvious I can see, though the issue goes away if I close all apps. Also, I don't see the issue if I use another camera app, such as Camera FV-5.

Many thanks in advance for any help!

There's nothing wrong with your phone, you just have multiple heavy apps running at the same time which will slow down the phone, drain your battery faster and slow down the phone.

You can test your phone in >>> safe mode

Sony's camera app need a heck lot of optimization to be honest. And I seriously hope they are right now working on it. The opening time of the camera app is not as good as its rivals, neither is the time taken between the moment you press the shutter and the photo is actually taken and saved. This usually results in me shaking the device thinking it's already done with taking the photo but it turns out it isn't so the photo ends up shaken and blurry. Again, if there is only one thing I hope Sony is working on right now, it's the optimization of Camera app as well as the photo processing software...

This is definitely an issue with the camera app and not having too many apps running, as it happens when I have nothing else running. I take a photo, put the camera into standby and the symptoms start occuring.

Previous to the Z5 Compact, I had a Z2. Never experienced any problems like this with that phone, my apps and usage are the same.

I don't have the Z5 Compact but you could try this

 boot in >>> safe mode

do you experience the same?

if you don't then it's a third party app causing this

if you do then repair the phone with XC and report back.
