I have purchased a new Sony Xperia ion LTE from AT&T around 3 weeks back.
It gives me a strange problem. Sometime when I try to make a call, it hangs. It continues to display "connecting" but call never gets connected even after waiting for 5 minutes. I even can not do "End Call". Nothing happens if I click on it.
I able to access other features of the phone like other apps, browser etc.
I have to restart the phone and there after it starts working fine. It happens once in a day.
It doesn't seem network issue because after restarts I can make the call to same number from the same place.
Appreciate any help !!
Thanks

I would recommend that you try to repair the software in your phone using PC Companion, since this clearly seems to be a software issue and not a network issue as you said.
You find PC Companion here: http://www.sonymobile.com/update
If you are using a Mac, you can use Bridge for Mac instead (found on the same link).

It hanged yesterday and again today !!
any other suggestion ??
If it hung again after the SW repair likley have to check with AT&T support.
Mine bought through Rogers in Canada (Regret I cannot exchange under buyer remorse for a true phone - Samsung SIII or HTC OneX) and on my second Ion one to-date. 1st one battery died in under 6 hours - mostly in standby (Know it is bad, terrible actually but should not be that bad). Tons of SW issues - The music player always "stops" playing and have to restart track. New app I am using for playback actually hiccups (Meaning processor/timing issues). Facebook app can't draw pages in timely manner (Wi-Fi or data) and is always "black page" under Facebook menu. No PlayStation Store in Canada/US so what features does this phone actually offer? My two year old HTC is better - Gorilla Glass, processor almost same, may never get Jellbean but already running ICS and more reliable in all areas except no LTE. "Won't Get Fooled Again" is my Sony moniker - so annoyed!
Called AT&T and they sent a new device of Sony iON on last Thursday. It has been not even 100 hours and I am facing the same problem in new device !!!
Is it a known bug ?? !!
Very disappoint with Sony for this phone !!!

did you get a new micro SIM card or did you cut the old SIM card?

Sorry about your experiences with the Ion. Check www.CNET.com and their TOP FIVE phones NOT to buy. Ion placed 5th. I am having so many issues, battery life beyond pathetic, processor bogs down multitasking. Fought tooth and nail with carrier and even though out money on Ion looking forward to Samsung S3 - ICS and Jellybean due about the time of Ion's fabled ICS upgrade. Sad to say Sony's track record with phones has not changed - pathetic.
I received a new SIM card with my first Sony iON and the same SIM card I used with replacement Sony iON
Any clue ?
I would just go to an at&t store and tell them that you need a new micro SIM card as the one you have it's not working, it should be free.
