what is the recommended SW to select/cut/ mp3 song from sony z2 to set as ringtone

You need a program for your Pc something like an audio splitter

If you have iTunes it is pretty easy from there.

Select track. 

Right click and select "create AAC version"

In AAC version select Start and Stop times (around 30s apart)

Right click and select AAC version (on the first AAC version)

iTunes will create a 30s (or whatever you selected) track which can be dragged and dropped onto your Z2 (select view in Explorer).

Don't convert if Windows asks you to.
