need path to sdcard

I just bought my Z2 and I am using mybackpro to migrate my stuff over from my old z.

The problem is that I can't seem to get the path to sdcard right.

I tried all sorts of combination and also Googled this for hours but still can't find the path.

On my old xperia z the path was just simply
sdcard1

But this doesn't work, nor does the more common suggestions online.

Please help.

Thanks

Damian

You will not be able to use any 3rd party apps to move files to SD card. You have to use default file commander.

If your using filecommander then select the icon top left next the the words 'Internal storage'. This will give you another menu with the option to select SD Card. SD Card is the external SD Card.

If you are using another file explorer then go to the root and it is sdcard1 i.e. /sdcard1

Also head into Settings/Storage to check that the SD Card is installed and formatted correctly.

Wrong. Nearly all 3rd party explorers will allow you to move files to the external SD Card.

Lets be clear here.

Since KitKat, most apps including AndroidZip can write to the SD Card but only to directories that app has created and not the any system directories. This element is an Google implimented Android KitKat change for security reasons and not specific to the Z2.

The path is still the same as it always was, i.e. /sdcard for the internal memory and /sdcard1 for the external (Unless using file commander).

When connected to a computer via USB or wirelessly. SD Card refers to the external SD Card and Internal Memory refers to the user accessible portion of the integrated memory. Both are writable. when connected to a computer.

Yes,you are right. It is not Z2 specific,it is Android specific. And apps can only write to their directories. The path is the same, correct.

But as the user needed,it is best to use file commander to easily to what he needs(move, delete, create folders etc).

I have the same issue.

I want to restore data from a SD card onto my new Xperia Z2. I am NOT trying to write data to the SD card only read from it.

But as the Thread Starter, I am not able to enter the correct path.

When looking into the File Commander, and checking details on a file, it says:
/storage/sdcard1/

but when I try to enter that path, the program says it is invalid

The path is:

/storage/sdcard1

I just figured this out to save my Pocketcast podcasts. it works perfectly.

Depending on your Android build you may have to create a folder to set the permissions. So, try:

/storage/sdcard1/INSERTNAMEHERE

... works fine.
