In my market there are not many faulty devices.. I guess it's polish mental of fighting thru corts that makes sony to deliver phones later than other parts of the world but mainly without factory issues. This is my 3-rd xperia (Arc s, T, Z2), non of them had issuess I've heard from phorums around the net. Maybe expect xperia t, which had not wery long lasting accu... 10 - 14 hours normal use from time to time, 5 - 6 hours intense use with games.
Yes my Z2 has temperature problems, but I don't have to play games for 3 hours, so when it gets really hot I just close the app and let it rest for a while. The stupidest thing I saw is when people throw the hot Xperia to cold water to lower the temperature... cold water for warm glass will kill it I'm sure for 70%. It's a brand new model, and it's tottaly possible to have some issuess and I'll be glad if none occurs in my example. Didn't yet test the NFC and loudspeakers for talking, cause I don't have any NFC staf around, hope it will be better then in T model, which would always send me to google play, even transferring a photo to coleagues Note II. Sorry to hear that such expensive device made you problems, I hope You'll get a new one soon.
Hi, i have xperia z ultra, and my screen cracked by it slef today. It is possible now
though, ithas a single diagonal crack and touch isnt working. thats all from me, keep your sonys safe!
bull!! i have a z, and i had it in my front right pocket of my trousers, for about 25 minutes while walking to town, took the phone out of my pocket and the screen had cracked, in several places. it is a common problem with xperia z and z1s!
Of course it can can happen. I work in the glass industry and something similar happens with something called Nickel Sulphide Inclusions which is known to cause spontaneous breakage. I will let you Google the technical details but the problem manifests itself after heat cycles and membrane stress ( such as being in a pocket) where the screen can spontaneously shatter. I live in the middle east and my Z2 lasted less than 24 hours before the back shattered completely while in my pocket. I was playing golf at the time not sitting down. When glass shatters in a bonded frame the glass expands. (there are gaps in the glass where before it was monolithic) this causes the frame to bend, This occurs across the weakest point of the frame which in this case is between the Sim Card and SD card flaps.
The retailer agreed with me that there was no impact damage, the staff all produced their own phones from their pockets just as I had been carrying mine and yet Sony have said I have caused the damaged to my phone and would not assist.
I have never broken a phone in the 20 something years of owning a mobile phone. The odds of breaking this Z2 on day one would be over 7300 to 1.
Next time I will buy another Samsung and I would recommend anyone else in the market for a new phone to do the same. I'm a bit disgusted by this and it will reflect in my purchasing decisions from this point forward. Looks like my new TV will be a Samsung.
yes, i can confirm that.
my friend just bought the Z2 two days ago and out of sudden had a visible crack line on the back bottom of the device. i know the man, he is very careful with his devices and it was a big shock to him to see the crack -with not a single scratch-, he has done lots of 4K video and the heat outside in my country - Saudi Arabia ~ approx. 45 c degree -, so the theory of sudden cooling the hot glass cause the crack, as well as the gab at the corner could be a rational reason. the issue will appear more and more in the middle east country's. if Sony do not declare the problem as a manufacturer defect, all Sony authorized store will count it as user fault which is absolute wrong and prejudice to the customer.
save your reputation SONY!
Sonys own warranty documents recommend not using the phone in temps above 45 degrees. Nice to find that one out after buying the phone in UAE where the temp frequently gets above 45 degrees in summer.
