These smartphones aren't really so smart after all.
a) No screensaver after screen lock - apparently it would use up all my battery.
b) Delivery reports - apparently it may be my service provider's prerogative - so have to check with them.
c) Plug in your wired headset as given by Sony in the box when you purchase - where's the automatic call answering facility? The only thing that comes on are the Enable App feature? Really? So does one have to go back to the PlayStore and download an app for this? I did...the Lazy Cars or some such.
I paid top dollar for my Xperia SL. The above are simple things that Sony could have incorporated
Wake up Sony!
a) screensaver? you can change the picture of the lockscreen
b) indeed that's your carrier
c) which phone does that? first time smartphone user? you have thousands of apps on the playstore to customize your phone as you please, there are apps that will allow you to answer if you shake your phone.
you have the wrong idea of what's an smartphone.

Hi,
Thanks for your prompt response.
a) I can change the picture of the lockscreen. Actually yes, I can, but what it does is only changes the wallpaper. When my screen is locked or temporarily off (by pressing the power button lightly), all I get is a 'black' and 'blank' screen. I had to download an app for the same which doesn't work the same way.
b) I will check with my carrier, thanks.
c) My earlier Nokia E-71 had that facility. It wasn't a smartphone, but it did all of the above. Now I have to download an app and hope that it works.
But thanks for your response, appreciate it.
a) that's normal with ALL smartphones, if you leave your screen on it will drain your battery quite fast
three are myriad of lockscreen aps but remember it will drain your battery really really fast.
c) that's because with old feature phones all you got is what was preloaded by the OME and that was that, with an smartphone you can customize it as you please with apps.
Hi,
Thanks, understood and will keep in mind. One last query:
a) On Delivery Reports - checked with my service provider - they mentioned about Message Settings and choosing the Message Centre and Reply via Same Centre. This is just not there in the phone.Could you help? I checked on the Settings, but it wasn't there.
do you have AT&T?
anyway the xperia S doesn't have SMS center under the messaging app settings
you have to do this
open the phone app dial > ##4636##
Phone information > SMSC

also you can set a live wallpaper for the lockscreen then go to
settings > display > screen time off > set it to never and voila you'll have an animation
Hi
I dialed #4636# and ##4636# and nothing happened.
I might just have to live without my delivery reports.
And no I don't use AT & T as I live in India.
Thanks.
In fact from a previous enquiry as answered by you to another person, I dialed *#*#4636*#*# and went to the SMSC details but got an update and refresh error inspite of entering the number. What is unlocking bootloader?
don't worry about unlocking the bootloader, that's needed if you are either a developer or you want to install a Custom ROM.
you should double check if you have the correct APN settings
