Aluminum frame

Aluminum frame

The aluminum frame is bend on the back side where magnetic charging and power button are. If I press it a bit, the gap between the frame and plastic back side disappears. Is this little gap enough so the phone would sieze to be waterproof?

Any officials here? Or anyone else with the problem?

Hi,

I would suggest that you have this examined by an authorized service center. Please contact your local Xperia support team for more information:

Can you post the pictures of your z1 compact too, so that i can compare yours with mine... I saw a video with internals of Z1 compact and i think that this gap is a serious issue for waterproofness of our device that underneath the device nothing is there to stop water... this video is on xperiablog....

I have the same problem, I'll put below a picture.

I think they used different quality plastic for the back panel frame, because the front one is perfect, or maybe the glass on the front keeps the plastic from bending. So the aluminium isn't the problem, it's the CHEAP plastic white surrounding of the back panel. 😐 Good bye IP58...

I will take mine to repair next week. This should definitely be covered by guarantee right?

I have the same issue (noticed the second week of March) : the device retains the waterproof capability, but i've notified the problem immediately to the italian support with also picture. In case of necessity i can include the case id and the copy of mail and photo.

What did the support tell you? Can you close the gap with slight pressure?

Any news on this subject? I can close the gap by pressing, but after a while it comes back.
