4.4.4 firmware update - disappearing browser

Hi. Just downloaded the 4.4.4 update on my Z1. Everything seems fine (no immediate issues apparent) except that the native Android browser has disappeared. Is this intentional? I don't particularly like using Chrome, Firefox etc. and was very happy with the browser as it was. What has happened to it? I've not seen this issue reported elsewhere so I thought I'd put it out there. Can anyone shed any light on this? Network O2 in the UK if that helps.

I just recently bought the phone (i am in UK). A week ago. sim free and not locked to any network. I am on 4.4.3. And I dont have any other pre-installed browser apart from Chrome.

I never realized that there is no native browser until I read your post 🙂  I checked in the user manual and it mentions "chrome" as the browser.

Did you upgrade from a version lower than 4.4.3 ?

You should have the browser in small apps,did you check?

Yep, I did. And it's not there.

I think the upgrade was from 4.4.2. I guess they're ditching it and pushing users to Chrome instead.

Has anyone from O2 experienced this? The browser is called webmall,you could download it.

I'm sorry I have no solution but I am having exactly the same issue, latest kit-kat update and now I've lost the stock browser. Can't find any official reasoning.

Alexdon, why would a browser be called 'webmail'?

Nick, glad to see I'm not the only one. Others I've spoken to have also experienced this. I can't understand why this is not more widely reported.

It is not webmail,it is webmall.Just search on google for it.
