Notification bar not swiping down.

After update to 8.0 the notifications bar cant be swiped down on the screen except in right had corner and if I'm really careful. On lock screen it works as before the update. My touch screen is working OK although no where near as sensative as before update.

After struggling with this issue for over a year, I finally fixed it! Got myself a Google Pixel 3a.

I've had Sony's for over 8 years and have had fantastic service out of all of them, but the fact that Sony has zero interest in fixing the issue with the XA1 has me truly upset.

I bought my XA1 off Amazon, and when it started giving problems, I spent days trying to find Sony support in the USA. I was finally told to send my phone back to the Amazon seller. I contacted the seller, but they could not ensure me that anything would be done under warranty, so I looked for help online. After various emails and then finally stumbling on this forum (that Sony seems to ignore completely, even though it claims to be Sony support), the only advice from anyone remotely affiliated with Sony is to turn my phone off and back on again. Like I haven't tried that in the 6 months the phone has had an issue.

Sorry Sony, but both your product and your support have gone to crap!

I can confirm this works like a dream after months of being so frustrated at having a phone which for some strange reason doesn't work properly! Thanks for the tip!

I have the same thing. I can delete notifications when swiping down from my lock screen. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but enough to live with.  The dead parts of my screen around the edges are really annoying now especially because a lot of apps put their 'save' button in the top right which is an area I can't touch on this stupid Sony and some apps won't allow screen rotate. Gaaaah!!! So frustrating. My next phone is definitely not going to be a Sony. The previous one was overly sensitive and this one is not sensitive enough. And it's not as though they're cheap. 😞

Actually works, thank you so much! I installed "Open Notifications 2" from the Google Play Store as I saw another Sony User had commented in the ratings section whereas version 1 had a couple of Sony users who didn't find the first version worked so well.  Version 2 is going great for me. (I was also relieved that it's a bonafide ap). Thanks for the tip 🙂

Now just need to find some easy non-tech-head way of dealing with the dead areas of my screen.  That might just be the "buy another brand next time" solution 😞

I am finding the android feature that lets you shrink the screen for one-handed use is quite helpful but unfortunately it doesn't let you centre this on the screen so I'm still shuffling it across from one dead area to the other along the side depending on which piece of the keyboard I want to use. Sigh. Looking at a Samsung now. I really really want to love the Sony and have tried so hard (Love the camera!) but you'd think they would have fixed this issue after so many phone updates.
