WH-1000XM4 headphones paired/connected to Windows 10 PC via external Bluetooth adaptor, but no sound

Hello everyone, I'm having trouble using a pair of WH-1000XM4 headphones with a Windows 10 PC. They have paired and connected via an external Bluetooth adaptor, but when I select the headphones as the sound output source, I get nothing through the headphones. They work with my iPhone, so I know they're not faulty. The only thing I think it could be is the Bluetooth adaptor (Silicon Wave), which might not be able to transmit the sound back from the PC to the headphones, even though it is clearly good enough to allow the PC to recognise the headphones. Does anyone know what might be causing the problem?

Have you tried connecting the headphones via cable instead of the adapter (just to make sure the port itself is working)?

You can also try using different headphones or a different adapter if you have either.
