Hi... I just run into problems!
Tried to boot my laptop VGN-FS285E and kept rebooting itself. Found out the reason was Registry File Failure. I dont want to run the Recovery console because that will erase MyDocuments & Desktop items that I need! I know you can do (at least attempt) a repair on your system with a window xp cd but we are not given one from VAIO. Is there a way to run the windows repair console on VAIOs?
I tried using an original windows xp cd to enter the repair console but it asks for the ADMINISTRATOR password. I used the password for my account (the only account on my VAIO) and it claims it is not right! Does anyone know the VAIO administrator password?
I also tried accessing the HDD through an external device that connects through USB and Denies access to my account folder becase its an admin protected account! Any way to get my personal files plz? The windows repair console seems my last solution at the moment 😞
Any suggestions are REALLY welcome and thanks in advance.
PS: To add my point to the complains I noticed on this forum, yes, I think SONY should add a REPAIR option on the RECOVERY console as there are more chances of needing to recover a system after a corrupt system file and want to keep your working files, rather than wipe everything off!
Moreover I also have to say, I love my VAIO and its a great machine. No matter what laptop you buy you have the same chances on running into the same problems. If you dont want computer problems, the only solution is not to use one
Hi YanMan and welcome to ClubVaio.
You can install the Recovery Console by: -
Start>Run
C:\Windows\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons
This will set it up as a boot option when you turn your Vaio on. You will have to remove it when you are finished
I believe the Administrator Password is blank by default - just hit Enter
EDIT: Damn - I was looking for that thread Thalamus - couldn't find it!!!
Thank you very much for the replies guys!!!
Start -> Run is not good enough because windows wont loggon due to corrupted registry files! So that is marked out.
I will read the thread suggested and see what can come out of it all... Thanks again for the posts and welcomes
You're welcome, good luck...:smileygood_luck:
