I've had a Vaio VGN-FE11S for over 3 years now and in the last couple of months I have been noticing the connection faltering with more regularity. I don't think the problem lies with the router as I haven't noticed any problems with other PC's in the household and I have noticed the green LED on the wireless switch flicking on and off. Does anyone know how long wireless cards tend to last and how is best to seek fixing or replacing if necessary?
i know you can change the wifi card on most laptops, i looked in to changing mine after installing Mac OS and the only thing that would not work was the wifi card. my friends Vaio wifi card is next to his ram so very easy to get to but i think the only way i could get to mine would be to remove the base.
I managed to find the exact same card as is currently installed in my laptop but getting to the card is a hell of a problem. Extracting the HDD, DVD drive and RAM is simple but does anyone have any instruction for removing the base of an FE-series as even with all the screws removed the sections of the base covering the majority of the motherboard are hidden and there is no obvious way of prying it apart.
