Hi everyone,
Many of you seem to know an awful lot about Vaio. Am hoping someone might be able to help me. I have recently bought my Vaio VGN-SR39VN. I gave Vista a try for a few days and kept on having problems so decided to downgdade it to XP, using the disk that was provided with the purchase. But I now have a problem connecting to the internet using wireless. I made sure it was switched on manually, but it doesn't even appear in the 'network connections'. Having skimmed through various previous threads, it seems like I have to download several drivers. But I'm not sure where to find this info. Could anyone please help?
Thanks a lot,
Popsky
Hi Popsky and welcome to Club Vaio.
If you go to the support page for the VGN-SR39VN and select the 'Downloads' tab you will find a downloadable program called 'XP Downgrade Installer 3.0'. I think you need the first, smaller file.
If you click on the blue arrow next to the file you will see full instructions on how to download and install all nthe necessary XP Drivers and Utilities. The Download Installer actually downloads the necessary files from the Vaio website and installs them.
I think this link will take you to the download site for your model - but the support site is new so I hope it is the correct link!!!

Hi Belncogo,
Thanks a lot for your speedy help! It worked! I'm all up and running now. Just for future reference, what does the second installer, the larger file, do?
Popsky
Hi Popsky,
Glad everything worked OK.
I think the second, larger file is for making an installation DVD which includes the drivers and utilities which you can then use to install XP with the drivers included. You would use this one if you haven't installed XP already.....
...... or I could be completely wrong!!
I see - thanks!
