Windows 7 for VGN-AR31S ??

Hi All,

Not sure if this has already been discussed because there is no obvious search function on this forum (please enlighten me if there is?)

So I'm interested to install windows 7 onto my laptop and would like to know if anyone has succesfully achieved this? I've noticed that the viao support do not offer drivers at the moment, unless of course I'm looking in the wrong place? So if there is no Sony support are there any walk throughs or detailed instructions out there?

Thanks in advance

Hi, will76

Nice try, but there isn't any.
'Search' stopped functioning Dec 26, 2008.

This is what Blencogo said that day:
The search is temporarily broken so the input box has been removed by Sony.)
Note the word temporarily !!

Today we're 216 days later; 31 weeks gone and still no fix.

I've given up on any Sony support long time ago. Once you buy a Sony, you're own your own. Stuffed . I came back to the forum today, to see if there were any developments for Windows7 for a Vaio, but nothing. And without a search even such simple question becomes mission impossible . Unbelievable how little support Sony provides.

Example? Sony support on a € 2200 (!) VGN-SZ Vaio notebook is just as lousy as their support for this website.

Anyone who manages to replace Vista by Win7, please send a mail.
Improving on Vista should be piece of cake, but we're dependent on Sony for drivers which will most likely be a lloooooooooooonnnnnnngggggg wait.

Ive managed to get windows 7 RC1 working on my VGN AR11M (which I bought in 2006 initially running on windows xp media centre edition).

Everything works fine (had some issues with the sound drivers which I managed to sort out), however alot of the "additional" connections dont work, such as bluetooth and my cd tray eject buton...also media keys are non functioning. But in terms of actual computing all is well so far.
